Co-ops & Internships

Engineering Co-ops & Operations Intern·2008–2011

Before Cognex, I did four co-ops through Northeastern University's cooperative education program — rotating through medical devices, defense, manufacturing, and architectural lighting. Each six-month rotation built a different muscle.

Philips Color Kinetics (2011)

Mechanical Engineering Co-op on the LED architectural lighting team. Took a product from concept through design and tooling release — my first experience owning a product end-to-end.

L-3 Communications (2010)

Mechanical Engineering Co-op in the defense electronics division. Designed mechanical components and created FEA simulations for rugged military hardware.

Ocular Therapeutix (2009)

Operations Engineering Co-op at an early-stage ophthalmic drug delivery startup. Created manufacturing fixtures and analyzed historical data to drive process improvements.

Hitchiner Manufacturing (2008)

Operations Intern at a precision investment casting facility. Worked on ERP implementation and created work instructions for the production floor.
